Simmons Foods Inc. has complied with the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality on problems involving discharges into the Arkansas River from one of its Van Buren plants.

During a January inspection of the plant, ADEQ found evidence of wrongful spills into the river, but field inspector Don Morgan of Springdale said Simmons has been very cooperative in resolving the matter and requested a meeting with the state office in Little Rock.

The plant in question was located at 5 Main St in Van Buren. Simmons, headquartered in Siloam Springs, has two Van Buren locations.

Morgan also said Mobley Construction Co. of Morrilton had done a good job of containing a hydraulic spill before it reached the Illinois River. Mobley is building the bridge on Arkansas Highway 62 between Farmington and Prairie Grove.
