J.B. Hunt Reports 3Q Earnings Increase
Lowell-based J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. announced Nov. 17 that its net earnings for the third quarter of 2000 increased to $9.1 million, compared with $5 million in the same period in 1999.
The company’s gross revenue for the third quarter of 2000 was $509 million, compared with $524 million during the third quarter of 1999, a decrease of about 3 percent.
Hunt said the lower revenue reflected the contribution of all of the company’s segment logistics business to the jointly owned logistics business Transplace.com.
Adjusted for the contributed logistics business, effective July 1, revenue grew about 21 percent for the third quarter.
The company’s earnings per share in the third quarter of 2000 was 26 cents, compared with 14 cents in the same quarter of 1999.
