ABF Revenues Increase 7.9 Percent
Fort Smith-based Arkansas Best Corp.’s revenues for the third quarter ending Sept. 30 increased 7.9 percent compared with the same period in 1999, primarily because of increases in revenue for subsidiaries ABF Freight System Inc., G.I. Trucking Co. and Clipper.
The company’s operating income for the quarter increased 35.1 percent over the same period in 1999. Increases in operating income were attributed to improved operations at ABF and G.I. Trucking.
Diluted earnings per share at Arkansas Best improved 44.8 percent from the third quarter of 1999, to 97 cents.
ABF’s revenues increased 9.4 percent, to $357.8 million, in the third quarter of 2000 from the same period in 1999.
Treadco Inc. experienced a 2.8 percent decrease, to $52.4 million, in its third-quarter revenues.
