Country music radio station KKIX-FM took the top spot in the fall Arbitron ratings after losing that position last spring to KMCK-FM, Power 105.7, for the first time in 15 years. KMCK dropped to second in the most recent rankings.

KKIX (KIX 104) had a 11.5 share of listeners, compared with 10.9 for KMCK. Rounding out the Top 5 were KEZA-FM at No. 3 with an 8.3 share, KJEM-FM at No. 4 with an 8.0 share and KBVA-FM at No. 5 with a 6.1 share.

Clear Channel Communications Inc. of Texas announced in October that it was spending $29.6 billion to buy AM/FM Inc., the nation’s largest radio broadcasting entity with 443 stations. The deal, which will create the “world’s largest out-of-home media entity” with about 830 radio stations, included four Northwest Arkansas stations that are now known as Radio Central: KKIX, KEZA (adult contemporary), KJEM (classic rock) and KMXF-FM (“hot adult contemporary”).

KMCK is owned by Cumulus Radio Group, which has another five stations in Northwest Arkansas.

The ratings are percentage of adult listeners, primarily in Washington and Benton counties, between 6 a.m. and midnight seven days a week.
