Kathy England’s choice of retirement might seem a little busy compared to the common shuffleboard stereotype, but England wanted to start something special when she moved from California to Arkansas. Her new business, Massage Health & Wellness Clinic, opened to offer a wide selection of services to Northwest Arkansas.

England spent about $5,500 to start the business in the 1,100-SF clinic, but the immediate community response more than made up for the initial costs, England said.

All of the therapists graduated from White River School of Massage. The cost per hour of massage is $28.

“We want to make this as available as possible,” England said.

Employing three massage therapists, a CPR instructor and a dietitian, England’s clinic educates clients as well as promoting good health.

“Get Well Soon” is one program offered by the Massage Health and Wellness Clinic. A 12-week program, Get Well Soon uses a personal trainer to help the client create an exercise program, and a dietitian teaches meal planning. Classes for CPR certification, stress management and couples massage are options for clients at the clinic. Corporate wellness programs are also available, including chair massages for employees.
