A Case of Unfortunate Timing
The lead story in The Morning News of Northwest Arkansas’ Fayetteville section on Dec. 30 was published under this six-column headline: “Building a bridge to the future: Youth Bridge Emergency Shelter provides temporary haven for teens.” The accompanying article was a glowing account of the agency’s role as a haven for troubled teens.
The only problem was that the story came just two days after two Youth Bridge residents kidnapped their caseworker and fled the area in a stolen van. The caseworker was released five hours later in southern Arkansas but the youths remained at large for days. In fact, one hadn’t been found a week later.A case of unfortunate timing
