Jack Greenberg, chairman of McDonald’s Corp., flew into Northwest Arkansas on June 2 to tour the NASCAR-theme McDonald’s in Bentonville.

The restaurant is operated by franchisees Bill and Walter Mathews through Mathews Management Co. of Springdale. The Mathews operate 16 McDonald’s restaurants in Northwest Arkansas, including two other theme eateries – in Springdale (with an airplane on the roof) and Eureka Springs (a Victorian motif).

Greenberg, who was promoted from president and CEO to chairman of McDonald’s in late May, spent about 1 1/2 hours in Northwest Arkansas with the Mathews brothers.

The NASCAR McDonald’s features a Winston Cup Show Car (a souped-up Ford Taurus). The Mathews brothers were awarded McDonald’s Best Practices Award for 1998.
