Tangos’ Review
31 E. Center St.
Fayetteville
Tangos is one of the more upscale restaurants serving lunch in downtown Fayetteville, and it shows from the moment one enters the door. We don’t often get the chance to dine on cloth-covered tables for lunch.
We recently ate there and found the food to be good. We tried the pasta carbonara ($7.25), which consisted of grilled chicken, bacon and mushrooms sauteed in a white wine cream sauce. The dish was tasty and very filling. The meal comes with a salad of fresh greens and two cheeses, feta and Parmesan. The entree wasn’t served with bread, but we quickly requested it to give an alternative to the consistency of the dish.
Another diner at our table had the shrimp poboy sandwich ($7). He said the shrimp was particularly good, but he was confused by the bread it was served on. It appeared to be a kaiser roll instead of traditional New Orleans french bread.
For dessert, we had a chocolate genache dish consisting primarily of ice cream, and we also had caramel custard with raspberry sauce. Both were also good.
Tangos’ ambience is pleasant, too, with large street-side windows.
Destina Moga, owner of the restaurant, plans to change the menu every six months to adapt to winter or summer. During the winter months, the restaurant is only open for dinner.
Prices for entrees on the lunch menu ranged from $6 to $8. Dinner entrees at Tangos range in price from $12 to $22.
