~ Alltel Corp. is changing the name of 360 Communications Co. in nearly 200 cities to the Alltel brand name as a result of the merger between the two companies that was completed July 1. The name change is expected to be completed by Sept. 14.

The 360 logo appears in thousands of locations, including internal and external signs, vehicle signage, on forms, business cards, stationery, bills, newsletters, wireless phone and accessory decals as well as product kits.

Alltel is changing out more than 400 signs at 160 retail locations in 15 states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Florida, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.

Alltel serves more than 5.6 million communications customers and 51 million potential customers in 22 states and operates more than 700 retail outlets. It employs more than 21,000 people worldwide and has more than 1,000 information services clients in 48 countries.
