Frost Busted
The granite bust of H.G. “Jack” Frost Jr., which disappeared unceremoniously last spring from the front garden of the Harvey and Bernice Jones Center for Families in Springdale, is apparently being stored in the Jones Center annex building nearby.
Speculation had circulated that Bernice Jones and her trustees would try to sell the statue after she fired Frost, her former accountant and trustee, after he alleged embezzled $1.6 million from the Jones Charitable Trust. But a reliable source tells us the statue is still mothballed in the annex.
A reader called the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal last spring to say he had seen a crane removing the statue from the grounds of the Jones Center. He said the head of Frost was tilting toward the building as if to say goodbye to its former home.
The Jones Center’s conflict with Frost has since been settled out of court.
