No Guts, NO Glory

Maybe real estate developers in Georgia are a bit braver than the Texans. A company from Atlanta is going ahead with plans to build about 300,000 SF of retail space in the Scottsdale Center in Rogers.

Piedmont Capital LLC bought 36 acres in the center about three months ago and is soliciting tenants to fill the space it intends to build. Possibilities include a grocery store, several restaurants and a state-of-the-art, 12- to 18-screen movie theater with stadium seating. All the tenants being recruited for the development are national companies or franchises.

“That area needs the shopping and entertainment facilities,” says G.K. Johnson, a partner in Piedmont.

The company plans to begin construction of the center next year. It is the company’s first venture in Arkansas and Johnson, a native of Arkansas, says he is excited about it.

“I wish I had more land there,” he says.
