Pfeffer’s Catering of Rogers is looking to grow its business with Sam’s Club.
Owner Juliane Pfeffer is making Lemon Jewels exclusively for Sam’s Club. The buttery shortbread cookie topped with lemon icing can already be found at the wholesaler’s locations in Bentonville and Springdale.
Pfeffer said she is working with Sam’s Club to redesign the packaging for the Lemon Jewels. She hopes a new look, along with better handling for the cookies, and strong local sales will lead to a regional or national rollout of her sweet treats.
Pfeffer remains focused on the catering business. She had 20 events scheduled for April, including catering for 800 volunteers at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
Pfeffer moved from California in 1997 and took over Kaye’s Catering in 1998. She then changed the name. Revenues have increased each year, effectively tripling sales from her first year. She said much of her success has come from being an established business in an increasingly competitive market.
“I wouldn’t want to try and start a business here today,” she said.
