Former Huntsville native and rockabilly star Ronnie Hawkins has been stompin’ around the backwoods of Madison County looking for some land to buy.

After living in Toronto, Canada, for the past 50 years, “The Hawk” is looking to move back to Arkansas.

We hear he plans to sell his estate in Canada, which could go for as much as $9 million.

Ronnie Hawkins’ band The Hawks later became The Band and backed Bob Dylan from 1965 through 1974.

While in the area, Hawkins attended a family reunion near St. Paul where he met up with cousin Dale Hawkins, another rockabilly singer. Dale Hawkins wrote the song “Suzie Q,” which was an early hit for Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Ronnie Hawkins tells notoriously good stories, like one about the time John Lennon and Yoko Ono stayed at his house in Canada and left him with a $14,000 telephone bill.
