Dixie Monitors Construction with Digital Cameras
Fayetteville’s Dixie Development Inc. has gone high-tech.
The company has aimed digital cameras at two of its prized construction projects and the images can be viewed on the Internet, if you happen to know the address.
Construction on Nelson’s Crossing on the corner of Joyce Boulevard and North Shiloh Drive, just south of the Northwest Arkansas Mall in Fayetteville, can be viewed at http://dixiemgmt.oxblue. com/1/.
The Nelson’s Crossing project will be a total 76,555 SF and is valued at $18.7 million.
Construction on the company’s Commerce Park II, also on Joyce Boulevard but near the intersection of Joyce and Old Missouri Road, can be viewed at http://dixiemgmt.oxblue.com/2/.
That project, which is adjacent to Dixie’s headquarters, will be a total of 66,093 SF.
The cameras take a bird’s-eye snapshot of the projects about every 15 minutes, and Web surfers can scroll back over the day’s photos and even previous days’ pictures. The cameras operate around the clock.
A spokeswoman for Dixie said the company bought the cameras so investors and potential tenants could check the project’s progress. The company may combine the collected photos into videos after construction is completed.
