Two ATRS Nursing Homes Under New Management

Did you hear that two nursing homes owned by Arkansas Teacher Retirement System are under new management?

We can confirm that the state’s largest pension fund chose ConvaCare Management Inc. of Searcy to oversee Northridge Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in North Little Rock.

The situation at Woodland Hills Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Little Rock is a little less clear.

ConvaCare, led by Joey Wiggins, operates six central Arkansas nursing homes.

We understand a big factor in the firm’s selection was its reputation for accurate accounting.

ConvaCare was given the highest marks for accounting among Arkansas nursing home operators by the Department of Human of Services.

ATRS has craved for accurate accounting on the projects ever since it inherited the properties two years ago from Pat Riley Sr.

Sept. 1 marks ConvaCare’s first official day on the job at Northridge.

ConvaCare replaces Cornerstone Health Care of Rogers, led by Alan Kilgore.

Cornerstone had managed both projects on an interim basis with an eye towards purchasing.

However, ATRS officially declared an end to the long-running negotiations with Kilgore in August.

The rumblings of litigation between Kilgore and the pension remain.
