Orbis Corp. of Oconomowoc, Wis., a manufacturer of reusable plastic packaging, opened a sales and design office in Bentonville on June 1 to serve Wal-Mart Stores Inc., said Cyndi Marsh, a spokeswoman for the company.

The 1,200-SF office in the Beau Terre Office Park is staffed by three people — two design engineers and a business development/retail employee.

r”Leading retailers such as Wal-Mart are seeking ways to move product more efficiently to reduce labor costs at the store level, improve inventory velocity, enhance the shopping experience and reduce shrinkage,” Jerry Hessel, president of Orbis Corp., North America, said in a press release.

rOrbis said the Bentonville office is set up to collaborate with vendors to meet Wal-Mart’s need for standardized in-bound, floor-ready display units.

rThe Bentonville office is a partnership between Orbis and Menasha Packaging of Neenah, Wis. Orbis designs and manufactures bases for point-of-purchase, unitized loads, end-cap and gondola-based displays. Menasha provides the creative design services, strategic marketing support, POP display fabrication, comprehensive retail research and sophisticated digital printing processes.

Menasha’s customers include Rayovac, General Mills, Kimberly-Clark, Hershey Foods and Huffy Sports.

rOrbis has 14 manufacturing and/or warehousing operations in the United States and a global sales network.
