Readers Unhappy With Alliance
There have been several letters to the editor of the Northwest Arkansas Times from readers who aren’t happy with the newspaper’s “alliance” with the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, but this one on March 20 caught our attention.
Achille L. Houle of Fayetteville was published in the Times saying the pitch about receiving two newspapers for the price of one wasn’t true. The “alliance” had raised Houle’s payment for three months of delivery from $21 to $29.75.
“The way I figure it, we are paying $8.75 extra for the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, which I never wanted anyway,” Houle wrote. “Fayetteville lost its airport, now it’s losing its paper … It will gradually fade away and all we will have is the Democrat-Gazette.”
