“Our company felt that there was a need for a full-service electronics store in Fayetteville,” says David DeLand, the Northwest Arkansas branch’s general manager. Circuit City, which is the nation’s largest retailer of brand-name consumer electronics and appliance, features name-brand high-end electronics as well as computers and music for homes and cars. The company, which also boasts a new system for Digital Video Express, began in 1949 as Wards Co. in Richmond, Va.

Circuit City was the first company to launch an electronic and appliance superstore. “Our main emphasis is on customer service,” says DeLand.

This new 21,000-SF operation, located by the Northwest Arkansas Mall, seeks to fill yet another untapped genre in the Fayetteville business scene. It is the fourth Circuit City store to open in Arkansas, along with two stores in Little Rock and one in Fort Smith.

Chainwide, Circuit City boasted $769.2 million in total sales for the month of June. Helping DeLand run the store are sales managers Jamin Wenzel and Gary Capuyade as well as operations manager Jason Berry, who is in charge of warehouse and service operations.
