Jon Williams and Zach Arns, hosts of the “Jon & Zach Morning Show” on KJEM, “The Eagle” 93.3 FM, are moving to sister station KMXF, “Hot Mix” 101.9 FM. Both Fayetteville stations are owned by Clear Channel Communications Inc., the San Antonio, Texas, media giant.

“The Outlaw” Tommy Smith, morning show host at KMJX, “Magic” 105 FM, in Little Rock, will be piped in to replace Williams and Arns on KJEM. Preparations are being finalized, and the move will take place in about a month.

Dale Daniels, general manager of Clear Channel’s four local stations, said the move is designed to give his firm the top four stations in the market. The latest Arbitron ratings are due out Feb. 5, but last year’s numbers showed Clear Channel already had the No. 1, 3, 4 and 5 spots.

Competitor Cumulus Broadcasting Inc. owns KMCK, “Power” 105.7 FM, of Fayetteville, which at last check was No. 2 in the market (see chart). Daniels is siccing Jon & Zach on Mike Chase and Holland Hayden, KMCK’s morning-show jocks, to try to knock Cumulus out of the picture.

“We feel we can benefit from Jon and Zach going head to head with the other guys,” Daniels said. “With Jon and Zach’s talent and track record, we are confident they will give Mix momentum and help us get a clean sweep of the top four spots.”
