Lila and Charles Pettyjohn opened ABComputers to offer a full-service computer store to Pea Ridge. Northwest Arkansas has several similar shops, but Pea Ridge lacked a local provider for Web design and computer sales, service, networking and repair.
With five years of experience, Charles Pettyjohn provides technical computer skills for ABComputers. He makes service calls and builds custom systems to sell at the shop. VarSource and Amptron are brand-name systems available in the showroom.
Backed by 10 years of experience, Lila Pettyjohn manages the graphic design portion of the 1,000-SF business. Designing anything from Web sites and business cards to menus and resumes, she said she enjoys creating useful computer art.
Babe and Bob DuBois financially invested in the venture, Lila Pettyjohn said. ABComputers is in a shopping strip owned by the DuBois couple.
Start-up costs were about $5,000, Lila Pettyjohn said.
