Doe’s Does Lunch, Expands Through Patio

In March, the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal reported that Doe’s Eat Place was going to begin serving lunch March 24.

Nelson Huson, co-owner and general manager of the restaurant, which opened in February at 318 W. Dickson St. in Fayetteville, says he decided to postpone the lunch service until around Oct. 1. Currently, the restaurant is only open for dinner.

The lunch service will coincide with completion of a new addition to the building, which the Huson family purchased from Tom Pearson in February. The addition will provide a new dining room where a patio had existed. The dining room will be available for private bookings and seat 50 to 60 diners.

“Plans are to serve a blue-plate lunch featuring Southern favorites like pork chops, hamburger steaks, and beans and cornbread with daily specials and choice of several vegetables (corn, green beans, fried okra, etc.),” Huson says. “Of course, our famous tamales and homemade seafood gumbo will also be available.”

For dinner, Doe’s specializes in steaks, tamales and shrimp – basic Southern cooking, Huson says.

Besides the Fayetteville location, there are also Doe’s restaurants in Little Rock, Hot Springs, Helena and Greenville, Miss. (the original location). The Little Rock Doe’s is a favorite haunt of President Clinton.

The Fayetteville Doe’s will be open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The restaurant is open for dinner every night of the week except Sunday.
