For brothers Mike and David Whitmore, business has gone to the dogs and cats. As the owners of Bone Appetit Bakery, the Whitmores offer a large variety of gourmet treats for dogs and cats.

The gourmet cat and dog foods are freshly baked and include a variety of flavors and choices. The business also features a large selection of pet memorabilia, such as coffee cups, mugs and curios. In addition to food for the pets, there are food and water bowls – some of them quite unique – toys and grooming supplies. The bakery soon will be adding a line of organic dog and cat foods.

Mike Whitmore, a former certified public accountant, says he had read about Bone Appetit. He made some calls, then visited the franchise headquarters in Omaha, Neb.

“No red lights came on,” he says. So, the brothers proceeded in plans for opening the business.

He says his brother, David, has a degree in marketing and formerly worked for Tyson Foods’ sales division. Whitmore believes his experience in accounting coupled with David’s experience in sales should make for a good partnership.
