Donald Albert Collins

Donald Albert Collins, who resided near Branch, Arkansas, died Monday, July 20, 2026, at his home. He was born on January 1, 1944, in Stephenville, Texas, to the late T.B. Collins and Lula (Tolbert) Collins. He was 82 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and two sisters.

Donald was a 1963 graduate of Stephenville High School and a 1967 graduate of Tarleton State University in Stephenville. He started working as business manager for Texas A&M University Press from July of 1976 to May of 1986, and went to work at University of Chicago Press as the Chief Financial Officer, for 16 years, which was responsible for the business operations of the press, plus managed the warehouse distribution for books and journals for Chicago. In 2012, he became President of Chicago Distribution Services, which managed book distribution, in-house digital printing and electronic storage and sale of books published by University of Chicago Press and 100 plus other scholarly publishers.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Vickie (Walbe) Collins; two sons, Donald Paul Collins of Chicago, Illinois, and Jason Collins and wife Kate of New Palestine, Indiana; and four grandchildren, Josh Collins, Megan Collins, Jacob Collins, and Jonathan Collins, Parents Jason & Kate Collins.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
