Shelby J. Hobbs

Shelby Jean Hobbs, who resided in Lavaca, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Greenhurst Nursing Center. She was born on January 25, 1938, in Charleston, Arkansas, to the late William “Vic” McCarty and Ada Belle (Flynn) McCarty. She was 88 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jimmy Junior Hobbs.

Shelby was a 1956 graduate of Lavaca High School. On July 6, 1957, Shelby married the love of her life, Jimmy Junior Hobbs. Before retiring, she worked for Tyson in Van Buren for 37 years. She will be deeply missed and always remembered by those who loved her.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 29th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Rev. Joe Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow at Island Cemetery, located northeast of Lavaca, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Kevin) Clagg of Charleston; a son, Steve (Tina) Hobbs of Charleston; three grandchildren, James Hobbs, Whitney Sisemore, and Gage Clagg; and three great-grandchildren, Brantley Hobbs, Blair Hobbs, and Kate Sisemore.

Pallbearers are James Hobbs, Calvin Sisemore, Gage Clagg, Lance Hobbs, and Matt Friddle.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to her service on Friday at the funeral home.
