AGC Arkansas will offer specialized safety training courses in Spanish this month to those in the construction sector. This initiative provides resources for Arkansas’s growing bilingual workforce, marking a commitment to on-the-job safety and efficiency.
The training will be led by Alma Esparza, safety specialist with TEXO The Construction Association, and held at AGC Arkansas headquarters in downtown Little Rock. Courses include OSHA 10 en Español on June 23–24, Confined Space en Español on June 25 and Trenching & Excavation en Español, June 26.
Space is limited and RSVPs are required by Monday, June 16. Fees will apply to each training session. To register or learn more, contact Mitzi Skinner at [email protected].
“Providing safety training in a worker’s primary language is about ensuring that vital information is fully understood and applied on the jobsite,” said Skinner, safety and training director at AGC Arkansas. “This direct approach can significantly enhance understanding, reduce incidents, and contribute to a more effective workforce overall.”
AGC Arkansas is currently the only organization in the state offering these safety programs in Spanish.
“This effort is about meeting the immediate and future demands of Arkansas’s construction workforce,” said Brad Spradlin, president & CEO of AGC Arkansas. “We are dedicated to equipping our members with the best possible tools and training, and offering these classes in Spanish is a key part of that commitment to industry excellence.”
Topics covered across the three courses include OSHA standards, emergency protocols, PPE, hazard communication, excavation safety, confined space protocols, and more specific content relevant to each competent person course.
