Sherry Ann Baker, age 67, entered her heavenly home on Monday, May 5, 2025, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born on November 8, 1957, in Fort Smith, to Junior Matt Sisk and Betty Sue (Graham) Sisk, both of whom preceded her in death. Sherry was the devoted wife of Jerrell “Jay” Thomas Baker, with whom she shared a beautiful life and nearly 40 years of marriage—an anniversary they would have celebrated this August. A dedicated homemaker, Sherry had a true servant’s heart and gave selflessly to her family and those around her.

In her free time, she found joy in life’s simple pleasures—watching her favorite TV shows Friends and On Patrol Live, tending to her flowers, and delighting in the hummingbirds that visited her yard. A passionate NASCAR enthusiast, Sherry rarely missed a race and loved watching them with Jay, especially on weekends. She also faithfully cheered for her favorite teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Atlanta Braves.

More than anything, Sherry’s heart belonged to her family. She never missed one of her son’s sporting events and spent many years caring lovingly for her parents and in-laws. Known for her fiery red hair and even fierier loyalty, Sherry was her family’s “mama bear”—protective, nurturing, and endlessly devoted. Her compassion and sense of humor were ever-present, and she never once complained about the many roles she played in the lives of others.

Her care extended to her cherished dogs, Abby and Dolly, her beloved chocolate lab and golden doodle. Sherry was also an avid reader, and a faithful member of Fort Smith First Church of the Nazarene, where her love for God and people was deeply felt by all who knew her.

Sherry is survived by her loving husband, Jay Baker of Fort Smith; her beloved son, Joshua Baker and his wife Lacy, also of Fort Smith; and her brother, Larry Sisk and his wife Becky. She is also survived by many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Junior and Betty Sisk, and her in-laws, J.T. and Josephine Baker.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at First Church of the Nazarene, located at 4813 North O Street in Fort Smith, AR 72904. Visitation will follow the services, also at the church. Cremation is under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
