Joyce Claudine (Herring) Cormack, of Greenwood, Arkansas, a beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025. Born on December 13, 1936, Joyce dedicated her life to philanthropic charity work, tirelessly serving through her long-standing membership with the Alpha Delta Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority and supporting Saint Jude Hospital.
Joyce was a passionate world traveler who embraced the beauty and diversity of cultures around the globe. She was also a devoted member of the Quilter’s Guild, where her creativity and craftsmanship touched the lives of many.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Kennith Cormack; her parents, Claud and Ruby Herring; son-in-law, Darrell McLemore and her great-granddaughter, Etta Crawley.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Carol Cormack Carter and husband Harold; her son, Charles Kennith Cormack and wife Judy and her daughter, Catherine Lynn McLemore. She leaves behind seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren who will carry on her legacy of love and kindness.
Joyce’s warmth, generosity, and adventurous spirit will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will forever be remembered for her unwavering dedication to helping others and the joy she brought into the world.
Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m., Saturday, February 8 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Cross Cemetery. Viewing will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday before the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Saint Jude Hospital in Joyce’s memory, continuing her legacy of compassion and support for those in need.
Pallbearers will be Joyce’s grandchildren, who will honor her by carrying her to her final resting place, surrounded by their love and cherished memories.
