Nonprofit hospice provider Circle of Life recently opened the two-story, 27,133-square-foot Joey Feek Center for Home-Based Care in Lowell after a capital campaign raised over $12.5 million. According to a news release, the center will serve 93% of the nonprofit’s patients daily.
“We want to express our deep gratitude to our community, board of directors, and dedicated staff for making this expansion possible,” CEO Catherine Grubbs said. “Our patients are at the heart of everything we do, and this center reflects our unwavering commitment to ensuring they receive the best care in the place they feel most comfortable — their home.”
Dee Vaughn, chief development officer, said the campaign surpassed its $12.5 million goal and had over 350 supporters. Circle of Life has more than 170 staff based at the new center, providing patients hospice and palliative care, personal care, care navigation, pain management, emotional support and spiritual guidance.
“Patients will continue to receive compassionate, high-quality care in the comfort of their own homes,” Vaughn said. “Currently, our care teams support approximately 350 patients each day in the place they call home. This facility enhances our ability to serve home-based patients and complements the care provided in our two hospice homes. It represents a significant step forward in our mission to expand and deliver compassionate, patient-centered care wherever it is needed most.”
In recognition of the lead campaign gift, the Willard and Pat Walker Charitable Foundation chose to name the center in memory of Joey Martin Feek to honor Joey’s legacy and her family’s connection to the Walker family. Feek, a country music artist, died in 2016 after a cervical cancer diagnosis. The new center will allow more area families “to experience the same comfort and care Joey received,” the release shows.
