When Lindsay Wilmott was a child, she was fascinated and intrigued with numbers. Both of her parents were educators, and she thought it would be natural for her to become a math teacher.
When she started college, she was on the path toward a job in education. Then, she had an experience in college that changed her life trajectory.
“I thought that was the way I was going to go,” she said. “I started to substitute teach and realized that wasn’t my gift.”
In college, Wilmott worked part time as a teller at Generations Bank. She decided that would be her career path. Over the years, she went from teller to working in compliance.
Eventually, she landed a role in operations.
“I love operations,” she said. “I love each and every day. Each day is a new adventure. I love problem-solving.”
After 16 years with Generations Bank, she left to join Gateway First Bank as its senior vice president of bank operations at the bank’s corporate office in Jenks, Okla. The move came in September 2023; however, she still resides in Siloam Springs.
She oversees the deposit, loan and retail operations. With her staff of three, she has tried to create processes that make the bank operations more efficient, she said. No matter how good the processes are, people will still make mistakes, and that’s a part of any job or organization, she added.
In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her husband Jake, her 10-year-old son Kyler, and the family’s three dogs and three pet goats. One of her favorite activities when she’s not at work or spending time with her family is working as the sound engineer for her church.
