Reflecting on his career thus far, a reporter asked Reese Dollins what it means to be a corporate attorney.

“We’re an extension of the business,” he explained. “We like to view ourselves as value adds and strategic thinkers.”

Dollins’ value for his clients is evident, so much so that he was made a partner earlier this year. Since graduating from law school four years ago, he has worked for Jim Smith and Rebecca Hurst, whose highly regarded practice has built a reputation for helping businesses, entrepreneurs and investors.

Dollins specializes in corporate and commercial transactions, from mergers and acquisitions to real estate and securities offerings. He’s built a robust client base and led several complex M&A transactions. He’s also counseled a local bank concerning a $70 million commercial real estate transaction.

“Getting the chance to work with Jim and Rebecca and build your brand and book of business is really special,” he said.

A Bentonville native, Dollins graduated from the University of Central Arkansas in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. With some urging from friends and family, he enrolled in the University of Arkansas School of Law and graduated magna cum laude in 2020.

He had multiple clerking experiences as a law student, including the Arkansas Attorney General’s office. He also clerked for Smith Hurst during his third year, which led to a full-time position when he graduated.

With a keen interest in fostering growth and innovation in Northwest Arkansas, Dollins said he gets a lot of satisfaction from assisting entrepreneurs and startups. He frequently speaks on corporate and entrepreneurial business law matters, including at the Northwest Arkansas Technology Summit and the Fuel Accelerator.

He actively engages with the community, graduating from the Leadership Fayetteville program and contributing to various projects and events. Reese’s leadership extends to speaking engagements on corporate and entrepreneurial law matters, reflecting his dedication to empowering startups and supporting the local small business community.

Dollins said staying patient has been critical while navigating the early part of his career.

“Don’t try to skip ahead in life,” he said. “The little steps in between help cultivate your experience and readiness to take on challenges.”
