The Venture Center in Little Rock has launched a national search for its next executive director.

Wayne Miller, the former executive director, held the post for more than five years before taking a job with the Independent Community Bankers Association as SVP of Innovation Programs in Washington, D.C.

Chief Strategy Officer Mimi San Pedro is serving as interim executive director.

The executive director position will guide and ensure organizational alignment on all fronts, including The Venture Center’s fintech and entrepreneur programs, administration and strategic plan.

“It’s an exciting time to be part of the Venture Center and we’re eager to find our next leader who will nurture and grow our programs and reinvigorate our commitment to fueling innovation,” said James Hendren, Chairman of The Venture Center board of directors. “There is great opportunity ahead for our organization, from our many entrepreneurial endeavors fueling Arkansas’ growth to our established role in the global fintech space. With the help of our partners, we’ll continue connecting entrepreneurs to critical resources like mentorship, networking, prospects, and world-class accelerators.”

In a news release, the board said it is seeking “a visionary leader equipped to ensure the organization’s mission is fulfilled through strategic planning and community outreach.”

Since its inception, The Venture Center has focused on education, collaboration, and acceleration within the startup ecosystem. It has been especially strong on the financial technology front, spearheading two annual fintech accelerator programs that have spun off several successful companies.
