Attorney General allocates $1 million towards State Police emergency vehicle operations

Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge announced Thursday (Oct. 21) at the Arkansas Rural Development Conference in Jonesboro she would allocate $1 million to benefit the Arkansas State Police for the Emergency Vehicle Operations center and officer driving course.
“When families look at moving to a community, they look at the crime rate and educational opportunities for their children. This training facility can be used by all state and local law enforcement to better train our officers so we can have safer communication,” Rutledge said. “Over the last seven years, I have invested over $19 million to support our law enforcement because I know safe communities result in stronger economies and better schools.”
“Arkansas’ law enforcement officers have no better friend than Attorney General Leslie Rutledge. She has always supported our law enforcement officers across the state and has worked to ensure that they have the training and tools necessary to better protect the communities they serve,” Arkansas Department of Public Safety Secretary Jami Cook said. “Her continued investment in our police officers will have a lasting impact for years to come.”
Rutledge recently allocated funds for law enforcement programs which include the Law Enforcement Public Safety Equipment Grant Program, Child Abduction Response Team funds, Sheriffs’ Association honor guard uniforms, and resources to offset overcrowding in local jails, among others.
