Truity Credit Union has agreed to a partnership with United Federal Credit Union that will give United ownership of Truity’s Springdale branch at 1910 S. Thompson St.

As part of the agreement, according to a news release, United will take over branch operations at the South Thompson Street location on April 5, 2021. United will retain all employees and provide membership opportunities for Truity’s approximately 6,000 Arkansas members.

Truity will continue to operate branches in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas.

“We wanted to find a partner that we trusted and felt comfortable with to continue our relationship-based service in Springdale,” said Truity President/CEO Dennis Halpin. “The team at United checks all the boxes. Not only do they live the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people,’ they have a proven record of growth and involvement in the communities they serve. We feel confident that our members and employees will thrive under United’s leadership.”

While United has had a presence in the Fort Smith metro area for decades, it began expanding into the Northwest Arkansas market in 2015 and opened two freestanding, full-service branches in 2019 — one in Springdale at 6706 W. Sunset Ave., and one in Rogers at 2000 S. Promenade Blvd.

“We are extremely excited to welcome new teammates and members to United’s Arkansas family,” said Stephanie Riffle, United’s Market Vice President in Arkansas. “Our growth in Northwest Arkansas is due to the fact that we are so inspired by the energy and progress being made in our community every day. United is dedicated to not only serving our members’ financial needs, but also supporting the individuals, businesses, schools and non-profit organizations that make Springdale and the neighboring area so vibrant and special.”

United consists of more than 177,000 member/owners worldwide and manages assets in excess of $3.3 billion. Its corporate offices and main branch are in St. Joseph, Mich., with additional branches in Arkansas, Indiana, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina and Ohio.
