Michigan-based United Federal Credit Union (United) says it will open two new branches in Northwest Arkansas later this year, one in Rogers and one in Springdale.

United bought a former Metropolitan National Bank branch at 6706 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale. The company is leasing a former Bear State Bank branch at 2000 S. Promenade Blvd. in Rogers, next to White Oak Station.

“We’re thrilled to be the new kid on the block, and even if the great people of Benton and Washington counties aren’t familiar with who we are or how to join, we invite them to stop by and say ‘hello,'” United President and CEO Terry O’Rourke said in a statement. “The team at United is excited to get to work and introduce our unique style to these two wonderful communities.”

United consists of more than 174,000 member/owners worldwide and manages assets in excess of $2.8 billion. United’s existing Springdale location is inside a Walmart Supercenter at 4870 Elm Springs Road. The company also has branches in Alma, Fort Smith (2) and Van Buren.

United says 11 employees have already been hired to complement the expansion plan, including: Amber Murphy, Promenade branch manager; Scott Jeffus, director of mortgage sales; Ron Martindale, mortgage adviser; Jason Fields, mortgage adviser; Anita Ritter, mortgage adviser; Bert Nichols, mortgage adviser; James Patton, business service adviser; and Michael Rewerts, regional marketing development manager.

“It has been important for us to get a great team in place even before these branches officially open,” O’Rourke said. “United is committed to making a real difference in the lives of our members and in each community we call home — it all starts with having a dedicated team of professionals who have a passion for serving Northwest Arkansas.”

The new branches are tentatively scheduled to open later this summer. Redmond Construction Corp. is leading the buildouts. United is also looking for additional property to establish branches in Fayetteville and Bentonville in the next two years.
