Topgolf files site plan for Rogers location, on track for spring 2019 groundbreaking

This site plan depicts the location of the planned Topgolf development along South J.B. Hunt Drive in Rogers, south of the Walmart AMP.
Dallas-based entertainment company Topgolf has filed its preliminary site plan with the city of Rogers for technical review.
The document was filed Oct. 19 by engineering and design firm Crafton Tull in Rogers. Comments or revisions by the committee are due back to the developer by Nov. 1, and the plan will go before the planning commission at a later date.
The filing comes five months after the company announced its plan for its first Arkansas development.
According to a rendering included with the site plan, the climate-controlled hitting bays in the two-story building will be facing north, with patrons hitting golf balls toward the Walmart AMP. The building will also include a restaurant, bar and private event space
The design shows a parking lot with 370 spaces, and bike racks with parking for 20 bicycles.
The approximately 11-acre site will include three retention ponds, each with an aerator fountain. Topgolf is leasing the land on South J.B. Hunt Drive from Rogers developer Hunt Ventures, the longtime developer headed up by philanthropist Johnelle Hunt. The majority of the property is used now for parking for patrons attending concerts and events at the Walmart AMP.
Morgan Schaaf, a Topgolf spokesperson, said a typical build time for one of its venues is between 8 and 10 months.
“We are still on track to break ground next spring with a 2020 opening,” Schaaf wrote in an email.
Topgolf, which launched in the U.S. in 2005, has 49 venues around the world and hosts more than 13 million customers each year. The Rogers location is expected to create 300 full-and-part time jobs, and the venue would serve approximately 250,000 guests each year.
