Terry Benham, a founding partner of Impact Management Group, one of the premier political consulting and lobbying firms in Arkansas, announced his candidacy for mayor of Benton Monday.

In a press release, Benham pointed to his involvement in several Benton community initiatives, including the Benton Event Center and the Riverside Park athletic and fitness center. Benham serves on the board of directors for the Benton Touchdown Club, the Panther Developmental Football League, and the Benton FC soccer club. He is a 1985 graduate of Benton High School.

Benham’s press release pointed to his political and business experience, saying that for more than 20 years he has advised government and business leaders regarding public policy and communication strategy. He said his national and international relationships will benefit his hometown.

“Under Mayor David Mattingly’s leadership, we have seen strong economic growth in our city,” Benham said. “His retirement leaves a void but also provides an opportunity for the next generation of city leaders to follow his example, step up, and take our city to the next level. I have the vision, experience, relationships, and determination to accept that challenge, and I’m excited about the opportunity to lead our city.”
