Polytech Plastic Molding of Prairie Grove recently completed an asset purchase of plastic fabrication company Southern Cross Plastics of Fort Smith.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Polytech, a plastic injection and extrusion company, is owned by John McCutcheon and Jim Benton, both of Fayetteville.

Southern Cross owner Ray Wesson has announced his retirement, but will work with Polytech the next two years as a consultant. Southern Cross, which specializes in plastic extrusion, also employed three others who McCutcheon described as contract workers.

Once Southern Cross’ plastic extrusion line is added to the Prairie Grove facility, McCutcheon expects company revenue to increase 8 to 10 percent this year. Polytech will add eight new customers as a result of the acquisition, including Oklahoma-based arts and crafts retail chain Hobby Lobby.

Polytech has increased its employee count from 48 to 60 in the last year, and revenue was up more than 20 percent in 2015.
