Mount Zion Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, 910 North 7th St., in Fort Smith is pleased to be bringing back its annual Musical Extravaganza on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 6:00 p.m., to commemorate the church’s 140th year of service in the River Valley.  The theme of this year’s celebration, “Shining the Light:” Called to Make a Difference,” was inspired by Matthew 5:16.

“The idea for this musical was conceptualized last year by myself and the late Mrs. Anne Fisher,” said Joann Prescott, program chairperson. “My goal is to continue to produce this program each year as a tribute to her faithful service to the church for numerous decades.”

Featuring some of the area’s premiere local musical groups and soloists, the list of confirmed participants to date includes gospel recording artist Kendall Triplett, Greater Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Choir of Van Buren and Lady Anitta Smith and Encore of Fort Smith.

The musical is free and open to the entire public.
