The Washington County Historical Society’s annual Ice Cream Social will be celebrated from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, August 15, at Headquarters House, 118 E. Dickson St., Fayetteville.

The historical society will be serving home-made cakes and Hiland Dairy ice cream for its 44th annual Ice Cream Social, continuing its traditional beginning-of-the-end-of-summer spot on the calendar. The social will raise awareness of and support for the historical society’s educational programs, which is dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of Washington County history.

Cost of the social is $5 for adults, $2.50 for children ages 6-12, free under age 6. Or get a family ticket for $15.  Tickets are available at the gate.

Along with cake and ice cream, those attending will be treated to live shows by the band East of Zion and by Walter Schmidt & Arkansas Chowder. Also performing will be youth participants of the historical society’s Heritage School. The WCHS Bookstore will also be open.

Membership in the Washington County Historical Society is $25 individually per year, although discounts are available for students, families and senior citizens.

Support for the event is graciously provided by Hiland Dairy, InTents, Northwest Arkansas SignShop, the Master Gardeners, the Washington County Sherriff’s Department, and cake-baking volunteers throughout Washington County!
