The Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care on Monday announced the appointments of two people to serve in positions with the group.

Dr. Chad Rodgers was appointed to serve as vice president and chief medical officer, while Dr. Elena Davis was appointed to serve as associate medical director.

“Dr. Rodgers is a well-respected physician who has dedicated his career to child advocacy, health care policy and health disparities,” Ray Hanley, AFMC president and CEO, said. “He is an excellent addition to our team and we look forward to seeing how his skills, knowledge, and passion will further AFMC’s mission to promote excellence in health and health care.”

Rodgers is a board-certified pediatrician and a partner at Little Rock Pediatric Clinic.

Rodgers received his medical degree from the University of Arkansas at Medical Sciences. He is vice president of the Arkansas chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and secretary to the board of directors of the Arkansas Medical Society.

He is the co-founder of Reach Out and Read Arkansas and serves on its board, as well as on the board of Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families. Rodgers also served on AFMC’s board from 2011 until Aug. 1, when he resigned his position.

He is the 2015 recipient of Arkansas Children’s Hospital’s Dr. Tom Ed Townsend Award.

Davis will be responsible for performing personal care, prescription drug and other specialized clinical reviews for Arkansas Medicaid.

Davis, a pediatric pathologist, received her medical degree from Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University in Lima, Peru, and a master’s degree in public health from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

She is board certified by the American Board of Anatomic Pathology.
