Achievements: Led engineering and surveying firm through the Great Recession; oversaw growth from a regional to a national firm with six offices in two states.

What would most people be surprised to learn about you? “I’m a bit of a sci-fi nerd. Tolkien, Star Wars, Star Trek, superhero movies, etc. It’s hopeless.”

When is it appropriate to text for business? “For the position I serve in,
it’s practically 24-7.”

What’s the best mistake you’ve ever made? “Accepting the appointment to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy. It was the toughest four years of my life, and frankly not the kind of fun experience most people have in college. But, I wouldn’t change that decision for anything. It taught me how to get through tough times and opened up opportunities that I would have never had otherwise.”

Who is your most influential role model? “Without question, my father. He taught me the value of honesty, hard work, and genuinely caring about people.”

What is the best business advice you ever received? “Don’t think too small.”

What is the one item you could not live without as it relates to your work? “It’s a toss-up between my laptop and my iPhone. I really need both to function well.”

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not working? “Number one is being with my family. Number two is cycling.”

What aspects of your work do you most enjoy? “Winning new work for our firm and seeing those projects completed.”

To what do you attribute your success? “Great wife and kids, great parents, great company to work for and a great community to live in.”
