Achievements: Manages one of the largest private equity firms in Arkansas and the surrounding region; co-founded 10 successful companies in last two years; previously helped guide Rockfish through substantial revenue and staff growth; former strategist at Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

What is the best business advice you ever received? “At Walmart, a coworker asked me to do something I felt wasn’t right for the business. We debated the merits of our positions in front of former chief operating officer Don Soderquist, who sided with the other person, but afterward commended me for standing up for what I believed was right. He said, ‘If you do what’s right, you’ll never be wrong.’ It sounds simple, but it’s really profound. It is both hard to live up to at all times and incredibly rewarding when you do.”

Where do you see yourself in 20 years, career wise? “I would like to see NewRoad Capital Partners grow to provide a series of highly successful funds and create the ‘Berkshire Hathaway of the Ozarks.’ I would also like to see my children grow to take on an active role in our business.”

How does one achieve work/life balance? “I don’t believe you can ever fully obtain a complete balance. I think what’s important is to give God, your family and work the vigor and focus they deserve and surround yourself with people that give you a little grace when you need it.”
