Mitchell Williams Law Firm Opens Jonesboro Office

Little Rock-based law firm Mitchell, Williams, Selig, Gates & Woodyard, PLLC, has opened a new office in downtown Jonesboro at 100 East Huntington.
“Our new Jonesboro office will allow us to serve the needs of the growing Northeast Arkansas community,” said Rick Beard, managing director of the firm. “We have many ties to Jonesboro, including several attorneys who are Jonesboro natives, and a growing client base in the area. We’re excited about being more accessible to our clients in this part of the state and look forward to forging new relationships with the growing business community in Northeast Arkansas.”
The Jonesboro office will offer general, business related legal services and provide legal advice in the areas of tax, estate planning, banking and finance, labor and employment, immigration, healthcare, environmental, governmental relations, utility regulation, business litigation, medical malpractice defense, product liability defense, mergers and acquisitions and real estate transactions.
Lance Miller, located in Little Rock where he manages the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, will oversee operations of the new office and will serve as the liaison between the Jonesboro and Little Rock locations. Miller is a Jonesboro native and graduated from Arkansas State University in 1982 and UALR School of Law in 1985. His practice focuses primarily on business litigation and bankruptcy.
“Mitchell Williams is excited about being part of the Jonesboro and Northeast Arkansas business community,” Miller said. “This area is an essential component of Arkansas’s economy, from education to industry and healthcare to agriculture. I’m pleased to be a part of the first major law firm to recognize the importance of this area and to locate an office in Jonesboro.”
Brad Shumpert, a graduate of Arkansas State University and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law, will staff the Jonesboro office, initially. Shumpert, also a Jonesboro native, previously served as a member of the Craighead County Quorum Court. Shumpert serves on the board of directors for the First Tee of Central Arkansas and the Little Rock Community Development Corporation.
Mary Catherine Way, a member of Miller’s Litigation Practice Group in the Little Rock office, will also join the team servicing the Jonesboro office. A graduate of Jonesboro High School in 1998, Way graduated from Union University in 2002 and earned her J.D. degree from University of Arkansas School of Law in 2007.
In addition to Little Rock and Jonesboro, Mitchell Williams also has office locations in Rogers, Ark., and Austin, Texas.
