New leadership takes the helm in Arkansas’ public relations society; Impact Management hires a director for digital media; and the Rockefeller Foundation appoints new board members.

PRSA INSTALLS NEW LEADERS
The Arkansas Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) installed its 2014 officers on Jan. 17 at its monthly meeting at the Little Rock Club. The new officers and members of the Board of Directors will serve from January 2013 to January 2014.

Taking over the top leadership role is Eileen Denne, APR, senior director of communications for the Arkansas Pharmacists Association. Denne, the chapter’s incoming president, has more than 25 years of communications experience and also served as president of PRSA’s National Capital Chapter. She succeeds 2013 PRSA Chapter President Heide Harrell, APR, senior public relations account manager at Stone Ward.

Additional 2014 Arkansas PRSA Chapter board members include:

IMPACT MANAGEMENT GROUP ADDS COVERT AS DIGITAL DIRECTOR
Skot Covert, a native of Ozark and recent graduate of Arkansas Tech University, has joined Impact Management Group as Director of Digital Media. IMG works with Republican political candidates and on a variety of public issues campaigns.

In this new capacity, Covert will be responsible for directing digital strategy for corporate and political clients to include website design, social media campaigns, and digital marketing.

“Skot is very talented and will add a lot of energy to our firm and give us the capability to offer digital support to our clients,” said Richard Bearden, the firm’s Managing Partner.

Covert is the current National Co-Chairman of the College Republican National Committee and previously served as the State Chairman of the Arkansas Federation of College Republicans. He graduated Arkansas Tech with a degree in Emergency Administration and Management.

ROCKEFELLER FOUNDATION NAMES NEW DIRECTORS, OFFICERS
The Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation (WRF) announced its 2014 board officers and board members. The 2014 Officers are:

  • Toyce Newton, Chair – President and CEO, Phoenix Youth & Family Services, Inc., Crossett.
  • Phillip Baldwin, Chair-Elect – President, Citizens Bank, Batesville.
  • Regan Gruber Moffitt, Secretary – Senior Associate for Public Policy, Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation, Little Rock.

The new board members for 2014 are:

  • Calvin White, Jr., Ph.D. – Associate Professor, Director of African and African American Studies, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.
  • Helen Dorado Alessi – Former Senior Vice President of Programs, Coalition Building and Resource Development, The Early Years Institute, Plainview, New York.
