Hog Radio Inc. president Jay Bunyard has invested more than $300,000 to start a new radio station, KFMD, 1340-AM, with a signal based in Bethel Heights.

Bunyard said the new station, which has a news/talk format, officially launched Feb. 1.

The owners have constructed a 174-foot tower at 200 E. County Line Road in Springdale, and the station’s signal reaches about 363,000 residents.

The talent lineup includes Glenn Beck, Mike Huckabee, Michael Savage and Jerry Doyle.

The station is partnering with local CBS television affiliate KFSM-TV, Channel 5, for its local news and weather content.

The new station, “Freedom 1340,” will operate with other Hog Radio Inc. affiliates — KFMD-FM, KUOA-AM, KAKS-FM and The Hog Sports Radio Network — from studios on West Sunset Avenue in Springdale.
