Persistence paid off for CaseStack in its pursuit three years ago of Colby Beland.

And hiring the Fort Smith native continues to pay off for the firm. Since Beland joined CaseStack in August 2010, revenue at the global logistics and transportation company has doubled.

“We would love to do that again over the next three to five years,” Beland said. “We are very proud of where we are today.”

Beland graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1997 with a degree in transportation and logistics.

After stints with FedEx Services and International Packaged Systems, he served as director of strategic solutions for ABF Freight Systems Inc. in Fort Smith from 2005-2010.

He was successfully courted by
CaseStack as the result of a connection made by noted executive recruiter Cameron Smith.

Beland, who commutes from Fort Smith to Fayetteville every day, is a member of the UA Supply Chain Management Research Center board, and supports the Fort Smith Museum of History and the Center for Arts and Education in Van Buren.

Beland enjoys offshore fishing in his leisure time. He has snagged several sharks, some as large as 200 pounds and measuring nearly eight feet.

“There is no bigger adrenaline rush than being in a kayak and getting towed around by a big fish,” he said.
