Senator Jeremy Hutchinson Involved In Domestic Disturbance

State Senator Jeremy Hutchinson (R-Little Rock) was involved last night in a domestic disturbance with an ex-girlfriend.

This is the second time in as many weeks that Hutchinson has been in the news for less than flattering reasons.  Last week, Hutchinson settled a lawsuit brought by his former political consultants who claimed he still owed them $28,000.

Police arrived at Hutchinson’s home last night and found a woman, Julie McGee, claiming that “she was thrown on the couch by Hutchinson and showed them a swollen lip, scratches on her wrists and redness to her left arm.”

Further, McGee apparently hit Hutchinson in the head with a “small preserved alligator head” and that Hutchinson had a bleeding head wound.

Both Hutchinson and McGee were taken into custody, but the police believed that McGee’s statements were inconsistent with her injuries and released Hutchinson and charged McGee with third-degree domestic battery.

On the Arkansas Times Blog, Max Brantley is reporting that Hutchinson began his relationship with McGee when he was married to his now ex-wife and this came to light in Hutchinson’s 2011 divorce.  Brantley had been previously contacted by McGee on another matter involving Hutchinson.

I’ll update this post once more details become available.
