Fast 15: Erin Fritsche

Erin Fritsche left the University of Arkansas with a degree in industrial engineering, only to accept a job at an organizational training company.

“They really hooked me,” Fritsche said with a laugh.

The hook was set while Fritsche worked as an intern at SVI during college. Her job was to create plans, handle logistics and ensure timely execution of training events and leadership development projects for clients.

That was fun and attractive, Fritsche said, because it was a never-ending learning experience — for her and SVI’s clients.

“I’ve always had a passion for education,” she said.

Once she began working full time, Fritsche was given research and analysis duties that tapped into her math and science background.

“We were so small I had to be the expert,” she said.

In 2009, SVI landed a two-year contract with Wal-Mart Stores Inc., and Fritsche’s work eventually resulted in her being promoted to client manager for the entire account. That meant she was responsible for managing and deploying projects across multiple levels within the retail giant.

Fritsche’s performance earned her another promotion — to partner — last year. As such, she is responsible for the project planning, management and execution of all of SVI’s client and product work. Perhaps equally important, Fritsche has shown an ability to bring a calm, logical approach to managing the inevitable fires that break out when dealing with complex programs designed for high-demand clients.

A co-worker deemed Fritsche SVI’s “stabilizing force.”

An avid runner who’s engaged to be married in June, Fritsche takes the praise in stride.

“Demanding clients day to day can be a little crazy,” she said. “You just have to figure out how to make things work.”

Fritsche, the oldest of six children, said spending time with her family is among her favorite things to do away from work. She’s also worked on service projects in Joplin, New Orleans and Torreon, Mexico.

Her primary passion, though, has remained the same since taking her engineering degree to SVI.

“What I love about my role is being able to see so many different businesses, learn so much about them, and get so many perspectives.”
