Cliff Lee Pitches For Hester For Senate

Rep. Tim Summers and Bart Hester are locked in one of the biggest Republican primaries right now for the new State Senate seat in Bentonville.  Summers has gotten some WalMart support recently, which plays well in that part of the state.

Not to be outdone, Hester drafted a pretty big name for himself as well. All Star pitcher Cliff Lee will be hosting a fundraiser for Hester in Little Rock next Thursday on February 9 at 5:30 at Doe’s Eat Place.

Lee is from Benton and pitched for the University of Arkansas. He currently pitches for the Philadelphia Phillies and also has pitched for the Cleveland Indians, the Seattle Mariners, and the Texas Rangers.  He has pitched in the All Star Game three times and won the AL Cy Young award in 2008.

I will admit – I am a Cliff Lee fan and wrote about Benton’s favorite son in a column last year. So yes – this is one political event I will try to attend.
