Con-way Multimodal Opens Branch Office in Bentonville

Con-way Multimodal, a division of Menlo Worldwide Logistics LLC, has opened an office at 609 S.W. Eighth St., Suite 355, in Bentonville.
One manager and three employees staff the 1,600-SF facility. However, a company news release states it will have 12 to 15 employees by the end of 2012.
Based in Portland, Ore., Con-way Multimodal arranges third-party carrier services for over-the-road, intermodal, flatbed, heavy haul and specialized transportation for freight shipments.
President Tommy Barnes said in the release the Bentonville office provides access to brokers with experience in flatbed and refrigerated transportation, two modes the company is seeking to expand.
“Overall, there are more brokerage companies in Northwest Arkansas than in many larger regions,” Barnes said. “It was critical for us to gain visibility there.”
Barnes also mentioned the presence of the University of Arkansas and its Supply Chain Management Department as a factor in the decision to open a Bentonville office.
Con-way Multimodal also has operations in Ann Arbor, Mich., and Aurora, Ill.
Menlo Worldwide Logistics is a subsidiary of Ann Arbor-based Con-way Inc.
